THERAPEUTIC YOGA PROGRAM FOR STWS
Active / Restorative Yoga and Kinetic Awareness
Taught by Nechemiah Bar-Yehuda
The yoga we teach is designed for all fitness levels, physical conditions and ages including beginners, people who have little or no experience with hatha yoga and people with serious physical limitations (one of the students is 96 years old and another one his legally blind to mention a few extreme physical conditions).
This yoga program was originally designed exclusively for STWS participants by world-renowned yoga teacher John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga. Many of the postures John selected are specifically meant to open up the lungs and chest enabling people to expand their breathing capacity.
This Active/Restorative Yoga and Kinetic Awareness class gradually takes the student from dynamic invigorating postures to the more relaxing restorative and rejuvenating postures. We complete the class with Kinetic Awareness, using balls of various sizes and levels of firmness to enjoy a deep tissue self-massage. This guided approach to deep tissue massage releases layers of physical and emotional tension from various parts of our body. Many people have released tension and healed medical conditions through the synergetic practice of Hatha Yoga and Kinetic Awareness.
This class is inspired by the Anusara Yoga style that utilizes Universal Alignment Principles for clearing the flow of physical and spiritual energy through the body, empowering us to be grounded, centered and radiant on and off the yoga matt. Applying this style for active dynamic and restorative Hatha Yoga postures helps us to expand our physical abilities and to relax and refresh our body.
